Life Everlasting by Robert Whitlow

I just finished the book Life Everlasting , which is the second book in Santee Series. I haven't read the first book in this series, Life Support, but it wasn't hard to jump in and read the second. I do feel like I am missing the back ground of some of the characters without reading the first though...

The story starts with Baxter Richardson in a coma from an involuntary fall off a cliff. His wife wants him dead to protect her secrets. His brother wants him dead so he can have more control of the family business. This is a family filled with greed!

Rene, Baxter's wife seems to be losing her mind. Baxter's brother is playing a game with her and her lawyer, Alexia Lindale... but neither one know it.

Then you have Alexia's friend, Ted Morgan, who is a classically trained pianist. Ted is a Music Minister, but God has given him a gift. God uses Ted and his gift of playing the piano to slowly bring Baxter back from his coma.

As Baxter grows stronger, the more endangered he becomes, but there is not just danger for him...


I did enjoy this book. Although, I do wish I could have read Life Support first. This book is well written and flows nicely... I honestly couldn't put it down. This story is filled with God's power and how God can use anything, like a piano, or anyone, even a family filled with greed, to glorify His name... and mold people into what He has called them to be.

Spring for Susannah

My latest read was a Christian Fiction Novel by Catherine Richmond. Spring for Susannah is Catherine Richmond's first novel and I have to say I enjoyed it. This is a classic Christian Romance story about finding love and of course finding a relationship with God.

Susannah has lost everything... including her parents. She resigns herself to the only option she feels she has and becomes a mail-order bride. She agrees to become the wife of a farmer, her pastors brother, in the Dakota Territory.

Susannah is a quite and reserved women who has never learned to show affection to anyone... let alone a man. Her new husband, Jesse, is as wild as the land and gives Susannah more love and patience them she feels she deserves. He slowly chips away that wall Susannah is hiding behind.

I have to admit... this story line would not have caught my interest if I were to just walk into a book store to buy a Christian Fiction novel. I have never really got into the western frontier books. This novel in not for children and may be best kept for married women. It does contain sexual content, which is clean and within the context of marriage. This book also goes into the struggles in communication in a marriage, miscarriage... and abuse.
It was an inspiring story... she learns to really trust. She learns to trust her husband and most of all she learns to trust God.

I enjoyed this story... read it in three days. I am glad I came across it though the Booksneeze program.

The Part-Time Vegan cookbook

My latest Booksneeze read was a cookbook... a Vegan cookbook. I chose this book to read for a couple reasons... 1.) I wanted something different to read... 2.) I love to cook... and 3.) I assumed there would be some great veggie recipes that my son would like, he is allergic to wheat... and I am always looking for a way to get healthier foods in him.

Well, it was a decent book. I want to stress the fact that my family is NOT Vegan. We like our chicken and beef! (we don't eat pork though.) I do have a typical kid who isn't crazy about Vegetables... He likes salad... and when I say salad I mean lettuce.. with cheese and dressing! lol. He likes cucumbers, bell peppers (sometimes), carrots (if there is Ranch dressing), fresh spinach (I know shocking!), and corn if it is still on the cob. So, if I can hide it... and he doesn't know it's there... then GREAT! I chose this book really hoping there would be some great veggie recipes... and well... there wasn't really anything in there he would eat. It is more adult recipes then kid friendly recipes.

I will say, I have my fair share of cookbooks... and I like the works with a cookbook...This book was laid out nicely. The author explains what Veganism is in the first chapter... and then breaks the rest of the book down into... Dips and Appetizers, Breakfasts, Salad Dressings, Salads, Soups, Vegetable Dishes, Rice Dishes, Pasta Dishes, Grains, Tofu, Seitan, TVP, and Tempeh... and the final few chapters are complete menu ideas for Dinners. I liked how the author included explanations of what things were on the bottom of pages. This book didn't have the things I look for most in a cookbook. When I say I look for the works in a cookbook... I want the serving size, fat and calories, and I want PICTURES!

All in all... I hate to say it but I will probably never use this cookbook... it will get put up on a shelf and collect dust.

Heart of Ice - A Triple Threat Novel

My most resent book to review through Booksneeze is Heart of Ice , A Triple Threat Novel book #3, by Lis Wiehl with April Henry.

It's labeled as "A fast-paced thriller" by Deborah Sinclair, editor in chief, Book of the Month Club and The Stephen King Library.

The story follows the three main characters from previous Triple Threat Novels, Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce, FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges, and crime reporter Cassidy Shaw. You see into the personal life of each character, into their friendships with one another... and then of course into a series of crimes that at first glance don't seem related.

Elizabeth Avery is a beautiful women who is a master at fooling everyone... lying is second nature to her. She is a master at manipulating people, and even gets some to do the unthinkable... murder. Elizabeth has no plans on getting caught- not when she is having fun getting what she wants playing "The Game."

The Triple Threat team knows they are dealing with a dangerous sociopath and cold-blooded murderer. What they don't know is that they are already on a first-name basis with the killer.


I enjoyed reading this book, although I wish I would have read the first two books first. The writer does do a good job explaining each character and you don't feel like you are jumping into the middle of a series. The book reads well and does keep you interested. The writer includes many 'deep' topics we see on a daily basis... personal insecurities, trust and fears... as well as lose of a child, breast cancer, addictions, and various crimes. It is labeled as Christian Fiction, but it isn't heavily religious at all. One of the main characters is a christian... and one questions whether there is a God when she is faced with death. I expected more as far as that is concerned. All in All... I enjoyed the book!
